Catholic bishops express support for trapped miners
The New Zealand Catholic bishops express their prayerful support for the men trapped at the Pike River Coalmine and their families, friends and colleagues.
President of the New Zealand Catholic Bishops Conference, Archbishop John Dew of Wellington, says, “Like many others around New Zealand and overseas, we wait in hope for a positive ending to this extremely difficult time.”
“Our thoughts are with the miners and their loved ones, and also with the rescue team and others who are providing help and support,” says Archbishop Dew.
“The bishops and the Catholic community of New Zealand continue to hope and pray for the safety of the miners and for God to bring comfort to those awaiting news”.
