CathNews launches platform for Catholic job vacancies

CathNews New Zealand has established a new feature to connect Catholic organisations recruiting staff and people seeking to work in a Catholic environment.

CathNews Careers has been set up as a page on the news platform, which since February has been run by the New Zealand Catholic Bishops Conference. The jobs platform is seen as an extension of a wider service to the Catholic community.

“Our news aggregation approach is designed to help those working in or interested in the Church to have stories of relevance land in their inbox or on the browser, rather than having to hunt for them,” CathNews editor Gavin Abraham said.

“In a similar way, we are hoping that CathNews Careers will become the ‘go-to’ place for Catholic organisations looking for staff and for people wishing to work in those Catholic settings.”

Mr Abraham said there has been early enthusiasm for the initiative.

“We had actually planned to start this project next year, but we had people approach us about getting started sooner. We were happy to expedite things,” he said.

“We hope that job-seekers will be equally keen to utilise this new resource as they look for a way to incorporate their faith and values into their working life.”
