On the 11th of November, a group of seminarians from Holy Cross Seminary clipped into their pedals, and began cycling from Cape Reinga to Bluff. They are riding to promote vocations to the priesthood and religious life. They will be stopping in towns throughout the country as they journey from north to south, where they will discuss discerning their vocation , share stories about what drew them to closely consider the priesthood and demonstrate how discerning their calling is transforming their life. They expect the journey to take 33 days, including rest days.
Will Warren interviewed Msgr Burns recently to talk with him about his priestly ministry to date. The interview has been turned into a three part podcast. Topics ranged from why Msgr Burns felt called to religious life to which he said he wished to serve people in "the deepest and best way" and his experiences of ministry overseas.
Monsignor Gerard Burns, currently the Vicar General for the Archdiocese of Wellington, was ordained in 1985 and has had a varied and inspiring ministry as a priest, having ministered in a variety of countries and situations; including Timor, Peru, and around New Zealand.
