30 Sep 2009 | GENERAL INTEREST

Catholics in New Zealand are offering their support to those affected by the earthquake and tsunami in Samoa and American Samoa.

Around the country parishes are holding services and offering prayers for victims and their family and friends.

There will be a Mass at Christchurch’s Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament tonight at 7pm.

The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Wellington will be offering a Mass tomorrow, Thursday 1 October at 12.10pm.

Caritas Aotearoa New Zealand is keeping in close contact with Caritas Samoa which is still assessing the situation. It is likely Caritas Samoa will seek support and Caritas Aotearoa New Zealand remains ready to help, alongside the wider Caritas network in Oceania.
